Jordan Lake Tournament May 31, 2003


John Barrett of Cedar Creek figured out the fish by throwing a spinnerbait tight against cover in shallow water.  He took 1st place with an impressive catch of 20 lbs 10 oz.  Steve Campbell of Fayetteville tried another approach by throwing a Texas-rigged Trick Worm and came out with 2nd place with 19 lbs 9 oz.  Ricky Mozingo came in 3rd place with 17 lbs 2 oz, a Senko don the trick, long with a Chartreuse/White Spinnerbait.  4th place went to Todd Parker of Fayetteville with 16 lbs 8 oz, using a Senko.  5th place went to Ron Johnson of Fayetteville used a Senko and had 15 lbs 14 oz.  Honorable Mention went to Hal Abshire of Spout Springs with 14 lbs 2 oz, he used a Lucky Craft G-Splash and Bummers.  Big fish was caught by Tony Mencome Zoom Baby Brush Hawg, it went 7 lbs 5 oz.

The youth division winner was David Blanton of Fayetteville with 6 lbs 10 oz.  He used a Texas-rigged lizard in shallow water.  He also had big fish weighing 3 lbs 10 oz.  Britt Kuchen of Fayetteville came in 2nd place with 4 lbs 3 oz.  He used a finesse worm.

Specialty Welding of Fayetteville sponsored the youth tournament.

Weather Conditions
Rain during the previous week and the day of the tournament made the fishing unpredictable with water levels rising and falling daily for the last two weeks.  Weather was mostly cloudy with rain off and on all day, winds gusting randomly. Low 60s to mid 70s.
