Carolina Bassers
Roanoke River Tournament June 11, 2005

Tourney Rundown
This month the club ventured on to the Roanoke for two days of tournament fishing.  Many club veterans recalled the days when the Roanoke River was the place to fish that often took a hefty limit to claim first place.  The results of the hurricanes last year have caused the big fish to almost disappear but on a better note many club members reported catching many fish just below the 14” limit.  The Roanoke will be back it is just about two years away.  Last year’s Angler-of-The-Year Runner Up Todd Parker captured first place on day one with four keepers.  Rounding out the top five were Ron Johnson, Jim Crews, John Barrett, and Shawn Dalrymple.  On the youth side, Nicholas Bell recaptured the overall youth season lead with a first place finish.  Joey Gwyn and Benjamin Russ followed him as the only youths to receive a trophy this day.

Weather Conditions

Sunny/Hot - Air temps ranged from a morning low of 78 to a high of 98 degrees
Winds – Calm to 10 knots later in day

Water temp - Averaged 78-85 degrees, depending on where you fished
