Carolina Bassers
Jordan Tournament May 20, 2006

Tourney Rundown
The clubs fifth tournament proved to be a pivotal event for some anglers to make up significant ground in the “Angler of the Year” points race.  It also caused a few anglers to slip down and tighten the race up a little.  Conditions were favorable for the most part, with fish primarily in the spawn and post-spawn mode.  Jordan Lake’s 16” size limit always seems to always play a factor in every angler’s game plan and also to their frustrations.  Most anglers however managed to find at least one “keeper” bite to ward off the dreaded “skunk”!  Patterns varied from topwater to Carolina rigging.  The water level was a bit above normal level which also allowed anglers to pursue a bite in the many shallow bushes.  The riprap around the lake also plays a role in most tournaments held on this body of water.

Will Blanton stole the show with an impressive weight of 4 fish weighing 17.33 lbs.  He threw topwater as well as fished shallow to get his bites.  Will also took “Big Fish” honors with a 5.81 lb fish.  Brad Long once again is proving to be the one to watch in his first year as a “Carolina Basser”, with a solid 5 fish limit weighing 15.96 lbs., taking 2nd place   Another new face to the “Bassers”, Alex Daniel finished 3rd with a limit weighing 15.46 lbs.

Young Jacob Toomey finished in the top spot on the youth side of things with a solid fish weighing 4.98 lbs., also being awarded the “Big Fish” honors.  Rounding out the top 3 was Tyler Teer in 2nd place with one fish weighing 2.70 lbs., and Nick Bell in 3rd place with one fish weighing a mere .01 lbs less than Tylers fish!

Things are definitely getting interesting in the coveted points race.  Anglers will be competing in June on Kerr Reservoir in the attempts to further solidify their positions in the top twelve.
