Hi there!
Wanted to see if you or some of your members might be able to provide me some guidance! I’m working to pull together some adult leadership to support a youth fishing club at Grace Christian School in Sanford.
We started a fishing program last year, limited to freshwater shore fishing, primarily at San-Lee Park, Jordan Lake and Deep River. It was a big hit with our 6th-12th graders. We had to cap it at 12, but there was a lot more interest.
Unfortunately, the faculty member who led the program has moved into an Assistant Principal position and doesn’t have the bandwidth to carry the program forward.
We’d also love to grow the program to include more how-to education, boating education, freshwater fishing by water vessel, weekend trips, and tournaments such as the NC Bassmaster HS & Junior Tournament Series.
I’m in seek of an experienced individual to provide some guidance for the program and also some folks to facilitate it. (Paid positions) This could range from recreational shore fishing, to strategic education and practice to prepare kids for a bass tournament.
Do you think your club could be a resource or consult for us? Or possibly have some leaders to support?
Like our Shooting Team, I imagine once we get this thing really going, parents will naturally become involved as boat captains, etc. for tournaments and help with coaching etc. But we don’t really have anyone in our pool who has done what you guys do.
